great place to stay in historical environment
This was one of the most beatiful places that we have ever stayed at. The actual castle dates back to 13th Century and is loaded with memorabilia and antiques. We managed to get a Junior suite for 109.00 euro. Truly superb value. The restaurant at the hotel serves superb food at reasonable prices. You should visit in April to June when it is quiet. We stayed in May and there was one other couple at the hotel. If you do manage to get to the Castille del Buen Amor, you will not be disappointed.
It is a privelege to stay in this beautifully restored and decorated castle. This was our second visit - it gets better and we will be back.
A very nice and beautifull castle, inside and outside. The pool is great. Clean, spacious and impressive bedrooms. Breakfast was very nice. Actually a perfect stay, despite of the few dislikes.
Diner choice is too limited and too expensive. Drinks are very expensive !
Absolutely wonderful. We were upgraded to a superior room and it certainly was just that. We had a huge balcony with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the waiter in the dining room. Lovely quiet and peaceful location yet handy for Salamanca. Very nice pool. We wandered all over the castle and found it absolutely fascinating.
The castle has lots of birds nesting in the walls which produces quite a mess on the balcony. This had not been swept nor the table and chairs cleaned of the bird mess
Staying in a real castle is fairly unique and a real novelty. We were pleased with the standard of the room. The twin beds were huge and comfortable. Access to our room (and I suspect others) could be really tricky for elderly or infirm as we had to access via a stone spiral staircase. A warning should be given to check access to room when booking. Fabulously converted and wouldn't hesitate to recommend with the prior caveat.
Beautiful setting, steeped in history and very close to Salamanca. Staff very helpful especially Manuel in the bar.
A pity there was not a sign for the hotel on A66.
The overall ambiance and style had been well preserved. The breakfast was excellent but it was all spoiled by....see below
50 euros for one night for our dog was a rip off and left a very bad taste in our mouths especially since I had asked them in advance to let me know their dog policy. I have stayed in higher rated hotels than this where the rate for a dog has come nowhere near to this. Quite disguted I am.
Staying in a medieval castle, but in tranquil luxury.
The very high charge for the dogs
Walked and enjoyed drinks on the terrace, then had a good dinner. Also we were allowed our dog.
The castle is very impressive, medieval rooms nice and with its own atmosphere. Design you will not forget in medieval style, has its own library and stylish resting rooms.
If you want to stay in something different from your standard box shaped hotel builidng then this may be the place for you. Room was awesome and the public areas were unique and pleasing. Restaurant offered good food in the evening though breakfast choice seemed a little sparse.
The hotel has lost sight of the fact that as they are miles from anywhere they should do more to entertain guests who choose to stay, rather than go off to nearby Salamanca for the day. Trying to get a drink from the bar was a chore, there wasnt anyone permanently on duty there and reception would have to phone for someone to come and serve.
beautiful surroundings and romantic settings. Rooms are beautiful decorated with antique furniture. Staff is friendly and caring. Ideal for a long romantic weekend.
no elevators in the hotel + quite a lot of stairs to do. If you book a tower room it might be inconvenient. Also the knowledge of English might be improved as it might cause some frustration.
The fact that we could have the dog with us,however the facilities for anything else were poor.
The fact that none of the staff we saw could speak another language . Also, there was no room service, and no facilities to buy anything personally needed. As our room was outside the main building, and down stairs, there was no outside lighting to ensure that we could get back safely to it . The receptionist had to light our way with a small torch ! Bedding also was damp ( but clean ) , possibly because the room was in a dungeon !
This was a special, memorable experience. The castle and furnishings are fantastic. The room was absolutely unique: upper level sitting area and bathroom and descend the narrow stone corridor into the turret, vaulted ceiling bedroom.
The unexpected 50 Euro -- yes fifty Euro - surcharge for my small (7kg) dog!
